Question:
Can you freeze butter?
Answer:
Absolutely! Yes, you can freeze butter.
Freezing butter is a wise way to take advantage of a good sale on butter. The price can dip several dollars at a time, so stock up for the holiday baking season and then make it last as long as possible.
Frozen butter can be used frozen (ideas below) or thawed to return to its original state.

Instructions to Freeze Butter
Freezing butter is easy. Keep the butter sticks in
their paper wrappers, but remove them from the box
and wrap the individual sticks of butter in plastic
wrap or aluminum foil before placing them into a
freezer safe airtight container or resealable
plastic bag.
This package can then be frozen
and will keep well for up to a year.
To thaw, place the butter into the
refrigerator
overnight.
Do NOT try to defrost frozen butter in the microwave
because you will end up with both melted butter and
hard pieces from the same stick.
A great butter hack is to use butter while still
frozen.
Unwrap the front half of the stick and hold onto the
back end. Run the stick through a cheese grater to
create a mound of totally usable butter from a stick
of frozen butter. Frozen butter will be fairly easy
to grate and will then come to room temperature
extremely fast.
Another butter hack is to place the frozen stick
into an egg slicer.
The butter slices can then
be arranged quite nicely on a serving platter. They
will thaw by serving time and be easier for guests
to pick up the perfect portion for their bun.
