Bread Crumb Substitutes

Product Amount Substitute
Bread Crumb substitute 1 Cup 1 Cup of Panko
*OR* 3 Cups of Corn Flakes - place in a sealed plastic bag and roll to fine crumbs with a rolling pin or place in your Cuisinart food processor or dry grains blender will make 1 Cup of bread crumb substitute- this one works especially well as a topping for creamy casseroles like mac and cheese.
*OR* 2 rolls of Crackers - Ritz and Saltines both work very well, either seal in a plastic bag and roll out to crumbs or use a food processor. You may want to decrease the amount of salt called for in the recipe if the crackers are salty.
*OR* Homemade Bread Crumbs - place 3 Slices of Bread in a 300°F oven for about 20 minutes until dry and golden and then place them in a sealed plastic bag and roll to fine crumbs with a rolling pin or put in a food processor.
*OR* Stuffing mix - pulse Stovetop stuffing in a food processor or roll out in a plastic bag.

Panko substitute Any Same amount of bread crumbs (or anything listed above).

But remember, when making a substitution for bread crumbs be sure to measure accurately for best results. Some bread crumb substitutes or Panko substitutes, may alter slightly the taste, texture, weight, or moisture content of the finished product so beware of the other ingredients in your recipe.
